Big Blue River (Kansas)

For the stream that flows from Johnson County, Kansas, through Kansas City that is often referred to as the Big Blue see Blue River (Missouri) The Big Blue River is the largest tributary of the Kansas River. The river flows for approximately 359 miles from central Nebraska into Kansas, where it intersects with the Kansas River east of Manhattan. It was given its name by the Kansa tribe of Native Americans, who lived at its mouth from 1780 to 1830, and who called it the Great Blue Earth River.

Johnny Kaw

Johnny Kaw is a mythical Kansas settler and the subject of a number of Paul Bunyan-esque tall tales about the settling of the territory. The legend of Johnny Kaw was created in 1955 by George Filinger, a professor of horticulture at Kansas State University, to celebrate the centennial of Manhattan, Kansas.

Manhattan Christian College

Manhattan Christian College (MCC) is an institution of higher learning located in Manhattan, Kansas, USA. Manhattan Christian College was founded in 1927 as Christian Workers University. The name was changed to Manhattan Bible College in 1930. On July 1, 1971, the name was changed to Manhattan Christian College. MCC is historically affiliated with nondenominational, independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ of the Restoration Movement.

Dickens Hall

Dickens Hall is a historical building at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. It currently houses the departments of Statistics http://www. k-state. edu/stats/ and Philosophy http://www. k-state. edu/philos/ and the Statistical Laboratory. Dickens Hall was built before 1907 and was originally used by the Departments of Horticulture, Botany and Plant Pathology. Located north of the building were greenhouses that have since been demolished.

Ford Hall (Kansas State University)

Ford Hall is an all-female residence hall at Kansas State University and is named for Kenney L. Ford who was Secretary of the Kansas State Alumni Association from 1928-1961. It is located on the South East corner of the Derby Complex at Kansas State's Manhattan, Kansas campus south of Haymaker Hall and east of West Hall on Manhattan Avenue and Old Claflin Road. It has a residence of approximately 450 students, and all rooms are suites.
