Rochester, Nevada

Rochester, Nevada, was a silver-mining town in Pershing County, Nevada, approximately 110 mi east of Reno. It is now a ghost town. Lower Rochester is still available to visitors; Upper Rochester has been buried under mine tailings of the more recent Coeur Rochester open pit mine.

Pershing County, Nevada

Pershing County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nevada. At the 2010 census, the population was 6,753, an increase since the 2000 census, when it was 6,693. Its county seat is Lovelock. The county was named after army general John J. Pershing (1860–1948). It was formed from Humboldt County in 1919, and the last county to be established in Nevada. The county is listed as Nevada Historical Marker 17. The marker is located at the courthouse in Lovelock.

Rye Patch Reservoir

The Rye Patch Reservoir is a reservoir on the Humboldt River in the U.S. State of Nevada. It is located about 22 miles northeast of the town of Lovelock, and is managed by the Pershing County Water Conservation District. The reservoir stores water for the agricultural area surrounding Lovelock, which is at the far downstream reach of the Humboldt, near the Humboldt Sink.
