Sparks (Amtrak station)

The Sparks Amtrak station is formerly a train station in Sparks, Nevada, United States once served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. In May 2009, the station was closed because of its proximity to Reno, NV. Safety issues also played a part, as the former station was in a freight yard and what appears to be the station building is actually a Union Pacific yard office.

John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino Resort

John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino Resort is a casino resort/hotel in Sparks, Nevada. The main portion of the casino consists of two 29-story towers nestled between Interstate 80 and the Union Pacific rail yard. There are additional attached buildings underneath and across Interstate 80 from the towers. It is located in Downtown Sparks/Victorian Square. Dick Graves' Nugget first opened in 1955. (Jim Kelly opened the Nugget in Carson City, Nevada.

Grand Sierra Resort

Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, known locally as GSR, is a resort hotel located approximately three miles east of Downtown Reno, Nevada. The hotel has 1,990 guest rooms and suites, 10 restaurants, including two by celebrity chef Charlie Palmer, and a casino with 100,000 square feet of space. Reno-Sparks Indian Colony

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony is an urban Native American Tribe whose members have Washoe, Paiute and Shoshone heritage. The Tribe has a colony in central Reno, Nevada and a reservation in Hungry Valley, which is about 17 miles north of Reno. The colony started out as a neighborhood in Reno where Native Americans who worked in local businesses and ranches lived. Under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, these people formed a tribal government.
