Carson, Oregon

Carson is an unincorporated community in Baker County, Oregon, United States, on Oregon Route 413 about five miles northwest of Halfway. In 1870 Tom Corson settled in the area on a tributary of Pine Creek. His neighbors pronounced his name "Carson" and named the tributary and a sawmill on the creek after him. When the post office was established in 1893, it was named "Carson" as well. The town was platted in 1900, the first in Pine Valley.

Brownlee, Oregon

Brownlee is an unincorporated community in Baker County, Oregon, United States. John Brownlee started a ferry service that crossed the Snake River between Idaho and Oregon that became known as Brownlee's Ferry. When a railroad was built on the Oregon side of the river, the station at the ferry crossing was named Brownlee. Brownlee post office ran intermittently from 1910 to 1965.

Brownlee Dam

Brownlee Dam is a hydroelectric earth fill embankment dam on the Snake River on the Idaho-Oregon border, in Hells Canyon. It impounds the Snake River in the 58-mile long Brownlee Reservoir. It is part of the Hells Canyon Project that also includes Hells Canyon Dam and Oxbow Dam, built and operated by Idaho Power Company. The dam's powerhouse contains five generating units with a total nameplate capacity of 585.4 megawatts.
