Essex Junction is a village in the town of Essex in Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. The population was 8,591 at the 2000 census. It was incorporated on November 15, 1892. Amtrak, the national passenger rail system, provides daily service to Essex Junction, which serves as a focal point for rail travel in the greater Burlington area, which includes Essex and Winooski. Amtrak operates its Vermonter from St. Albans, VT to Washington, D.C..

Fort Ethan Allen

Fort Ethan Allen was a U.S. army installation in Vermont, named for American Revolutionary War figure Ethan Allen. Home to nearly a quarter of Vermont's population, Chittenden is the most populous county in the state, with more than twice as many residents as Vermont's second-most populous county, Rutland. Chittenden County is part of the Burlington-South Burlington, VT Metropolitan Statistical Area.
