Bee Rock Tunnel
Bee Rock Tunnel is a former railroad tunnel that is located in Appalachia, Virginia. Though known locally as the "world's shortest railroad tunnel", at 47 feet, 7 inches long, it is 1 foot, 7 inches longer than the Westmoreland Tunnel, in Gallatin, Tennessee. Both tunnels, however, are longer than the Backbone Rock Tunnel near Crandull, Tennessee, which at around 20 feet long, is also known locally as the "world's shortest railroad tunnel."

Mountain Empire Community College
Mountain Empire Community College is a two-year college located in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and is one of the 23 schools in the Virginia Community College System. The college serves residents of Dickenson, Lee, Scott, and Wise counties, as well as the City of Norton. The first classes were offered in the Fall of 1972.
