Forward Operating Base Delhi

FOB Delhi in Afghanistan is a military expeditionary base built by the United States Marine Corps. It is along the Helmand River Valley in Garmsir at an abandoned Agricultural College building. It was originally established by 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2008 and was transferred to the British Army regiment The Light Dragoons of Task Force Helmand on September 8, 2008. Prince Harry served there in late 2007. In June 2009, it was transferred to the US Marines of Task Force Leatherneck.

Garmsir

The village of Garmsir is the center of Garmsir District in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. It is situated on the East bank of Helmand River on {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:31.1167|N|64.2000|E||||| | |name= }} at 714 m altitude and 63 km South-West of Lashkar Gah. The major road at Garmsir is Route 605. The hospital is called Hazar Juft Comprehensive Health Clinic. Prince Harry spent time in the village during his 2008 period in the country.

Marja (also spelled Marjah or Marjeh) is an unincorporated agricultural district in Nad Ali District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, southwest of Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital. The name Marja is also applied to a small location within the district where a number of farmers' markets, shops and a mosque are located. The population of the Marja district is 80,000 - 125,000 spread across 80 - 125 square miles, an area larger than Cleveland or Washington D.C..

Operation Moshtarak

Operation Moshtarak (Dari for Together or Joint) was an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) pacification offensive in the town of Marja, Helmand Province, Afghanistan. It involved 15,000 American, Afghan, and British troops and constituted the largest joint operation of the War in Afghanistan up to that point and aimed to remove the Taliban from Marja and eliminate the last Taliban stronghold in central Helmand Province.
