Hermes Quijada International Airport

Hermes Quijada International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto International de Río Grande - Hermes Quijada) is an airport in Tierra del Fuego Province, Argentina serving the city of Río Grande. It has 80,000m² of runways, 11,500m² of taxiways, 1,250m² of terminal, a 230m² cargo terminal and 1,700² of hangars. It is operated by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000. In 2007 RGA handled 38,901 passengers, and in 2006 just 14,345.

Operation Mikado

Operation Mikado was the code name of a military plan by the United Kingdom to use Special Air Service troops to attack the home base of Argentina's five Etendard strike fighters at Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego during the 1982 Falklands War. The man in charge of the planning was Brigadier Peter de la Billière, then director of the SAS and SBS Group.
