Birriwa, New South Wales

Birriwa is a locality in central New South Wales, Australia. Birriwa is located on the Castlereagh Highway in the central west of New South Wales between Gulgong and Dunedoo. The Gwabegar railway line came to Birriwa and a station was opened there in 1909. There is no longer a passenger service, but a large grain silo remains in operation where the railway line crosses the Castlereagh Highway at a level crossing.

Tallawang, New South Wales

Tallawang is aa historical locality north of Gulgong in central western New South Wales, Australia. The place name is derived from an aboriginal word for 'apple gum'. The Tallawang area (originally often spelled Tallewang) was originally settled by Aboriginal people. In the 1830s the area was settled by Europeans, originally raising sheep. The Tallawang area is in the valley of Tallawang Creek, which flows south into Wyaldra Creek and then subsequently to the Cudgegong River west of Gulgong.

Dunedoo, New South Wales

Dunedoo /ˈdʌniduː/ DUN-ee-doo is a village of 836 inhabitants situated within the Warrumbungle Shire of central western New South Wales, Australia. Dunedoo is well known to Australian travellers due to its distinctive name (A 'dunny' is a colloquial Australian word for a toilet). The name is actually derived from a local Aboriginal word meaning 'swan', which are commonly found in the area's lagoons. The town is located on the north-western edges of the Sydney basin.
