Talbingo, New South Wales

Talbingo is a small town in New South Wales, Australia at the edge of the Snowy Mountains on the Snowy Mountains Highway. The town is 410 metres above sea level. It is on the Tumut River, which has been inundated by Jounama Pondage. Talbingo resident Jack Bridle, whose family were early settlers of the area, suggests the name to be a corruption of the English word "tall" and the Aboriginal words "Binji", "Binge" or "Bingo" meaning belly.

Talbingo Dam

Talbingo Dam is located on the Tumut River in southern New South Wales. It is the largest dam in the Snowy Mountains Scheme, with the associated Tumut 3 Power Station also the largest in the project. The dam is a 162 metre (530 feet) high rockfill structure with an upstream sloping silty clay core, and on completion in 1971 was the highest dam in Australia. The Tumut-3 Hydroelectric Power Station is located directly downstream of the dam wall.

Batlow, New South Wales

Batlow is a town in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales, Australia, on the edge of the Great Dividing Range, 775 m above sea level. Batlow is well known for its apples. About 50 growers in the district supply 1.6 million cases of apples, or 10% of the Australian apple crop, to the Australian market. The district also produces cherries and stone fruit.

Wondalga, New South Wales

Wondalga is a rural community in the central east part of the Riverina and situated about 14 kilometres north of Batlow and 16 km south of Adelong. Middle Adelong Post Office opened on 1 August 1875, was renamed Wondalga in 1908 and closed in 1971.
