Moree, New South Wales

Moree is a large town in Moree Plains Shire in northern New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the banks of the Mehi River in the centre of the rich black-soil plains. Moree is a major agricultural centre, noted for its part in the Australian cotton growing industry which was established there in the early 1960s. The town is located at the junction of the Newell Highway and Gwydir Highway and can be reached by daily train and air services from Sydney.

Ashley, New South Wales

Ashley is a small rural locality of 272 people on the Carnarvon Highway, 17 km north of Moree, New South Wales, Australia and 692 km from Sydney. The village boundaries are within the Moree Plains Council local government area. The village is at a height of 201.4 metres and is in Bogree parish, Courallie County. Ashley was named after the English home of Mr Hassall, MP for Moree in the State Parliament.

Tareelaroi Weir

Tareelaroi Weir is a weir in northern New South Wales, Australia. It is located 20 kilometres east of the town of Moree and around 10 kilometres west of the village of Pallamallawa. When full, Tareelaroi Weir holds 2,500 megalitres of water. It is used for the mitigation of water from the Gwydir River upstream, between the Gwydir River, which runs through the village of Yarraman and the Mehi River, downstream which runs through the town of Moree.
