Munghorn Gap Nature Reserve is a 6,800 hectare reserve in eastern Australia. It lies on the Great Dividing Range, 35 km north-east of Mudgee, New South Wales. The Castle Rocks walking trail reveals pagoda-like sandstone formations.

Wollar
Wollar is a town in New South Wales, Australia. The town is located 316 kilometres north west of the state capital Sydney and 48 kilometres north east of the regional centre of Mudgee, near the Goulburn River National Park. At the 2006 census, Wollar and the surrounding region had a population of 304. The Wollar townsite is subject to a mining exploration lease owned by United States mining company Peabody Energy, operators of the nearby Wilpinjong open-cut coal mine.

The Mid-Western Regional Council is a local government area in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. The area under administration is located adjacent to the Castlereagh Highway that passes through the middle of the area in an approximate southeast-northwest direction. Mid-Western Regional Council was proclaimed on 26 May 2004 and incorporates the whole of the former Mudgee Shire Council and parts of the former Merriwa and Rylstone Shires.

Ulan, New South Wales
Ulan is a small village in eastern New South Wales, Australia. Ulan Post Office opened on 1 September 1893. There is a coal mine at Ulan. The Sandy Hollow - Ulan Railway was built to serve this coal mine. In exchange for additional coal leases, the coal company extended the railway for 20 km to connect with other railway lines at Gulgong thus forming an improved alternate route crossing the Great Dividing Range at a lower altitude with improved gradients.
