The Channon, New South Wales
The Channon, pronounced "CHANNON" (a local aboriginal term for the Burrawang palm, a type of cycad that proliferates along the ridgelines in the area) is a village in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales, Australia. It is about 18 kilometres northwest of Lismore and about 21 km from Nimbin, NSW. It is part of the City of Lismore. Like many villages in the area, there is cattle farming, general grazing and small crop farming.

Dunoon, New South Wales
Dunoon is a small village within the City of Lismore LGA in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia. At the 2006 census, Dunoon had a population of 372 people. In the 2011 census the population was 824 (see more at Dunoon census statistics. It is known as the Macadamia nut capital of Australia. News about the village can be found in the local newspaper, The Dunoon and District Gazette, with past copies available at the Lismore library and the Richmond River Historical Society.

Modanville is a scattered community in New South Wales, Australia, situated 14 kilometres north of the city of Lismore. At the 2006 census, Modanville had a population of 515 people. It is an interesting area with lush tropical rainforest smoothly bordering with farmland, this farmland constantly being broken up by the rainforest again. Mainly dairy and macadamias are farmed in the area and its closest village, Dunoon, is regarded as the Macadamia Capital of Australia.

Aquarius Festival
The Aquarius Festival was a counter-cultural arts and music festival organised by the Australian Union of Students. The first NUAUS festival was held in Sydney ca 1966, while the second, Melbourne, third in Canberra and last (Aquarius) was held in Nimbin, New South Wales in 1973. The Aquarius Festival aimed to celebrate alternative thinking and sustainable lifestyles. The ten day event was held from 12 to 23 May 1973 and co-directed by Johnny Allen and Graeme Dunstan.
