Apsley Falls

The Apsley Falls are two waterfalls on the Apsley River on the Northern Tablelands, New South Wales, Australia. The falls are located about 20 kilometres east of Walcha, and 1 kilometre off the Oxley Highway in a deep gorge, that is part of the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. They are the first falls in a succession of dramatic drops in an area that has some of the most remarkable scenery in Eastern Australia.

Walcha, New South Wales

Walcha (pronounced "wolka") is a parish and town at the south-eastern edge of the Northern Tablelands, New South Wales, Australia. The town serves as the seat of Walcha Shire. Walcha is located 425 kilometres by road from Sydney at the intersection of the Oxley Highway and Thunderbolts Way. The Apsley River passes through the town to tumble over the Apsley Falls before joining the Macleay River further on.

Walcha Shire

Walcha Shire is a local government area located in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia. The Shire is situated adjacent to the junction of the Oxley Highway and Thunderbolts Way and is 20 kilometres east of the Main North railway line passing through Walcha Road. The Shire of Apsley, its predecessor, was constituted by proclamation on 7 March 1906 and is located in the Vernon, Hawes, and Inglis counties, and comprises about 60 parishes. The area is 1,605,590 acres .

Brackendale, New South Wales

Brackendale is a rural locality situated on the Riamukka Road about 29 kilometres south of Walcha, New South Wales within the Walcha Shire local government area on the Northern Tablelands in Australia. Brackendale was officially recognised as a locality in 1968 and currently comprises several houses and a church. The principal local industry is sheep and beef cattle breeding. Orundumbi Post Office opened on 1 October 1892 and was renamed Brackendale in 1924.
