Weabonga, New South Wales

Weabonga is a small village on Swamp Oak Creek, about 37 km south west of Walcha, 33 km south southeast of Limbri, New South Wales, Australia. It is lies in the ridges of the Great Dividing Range and is part of the Tamworth Regional Council Local Government Area and Parry County. The winding Limbri road to Weabonga follows Swamp Oak Creek, which continues on to just north east of Kootingal where it joins the Cockburn River.

Niangala, New South Wales

Niangala is a village located on the south-eastern edge of the Northern Tablelands area of New South Wales, Australia. It is on the Moonbi Range which is part of the Great Dividing Range, at approximately 1,300 metres above sea level. The village is in Walcha parish in Parry County. At the 2006 census, Niangala and the surrounding area had a population of 163. Geographically isolated, the village is situated among pine tree plantations.

Woolomin, New South Wales

Woolomin is a small settlement on the bank of the Peel River, about 20 km north of Nundle, New South Wales, Australia and about 40 km south east of the city of Tamworth. It is on the Fossickers Way near Chaffey Dam. At the 2006 census, Woolomin had a population of 469. On 20 November 2000 approximately 50 homes were evacuated as the Peel River burst its banks. The village has a public school and agriculture is the major industry for the region.

Chaffey Dam

Chaffey Dam is a dam 16 kilometres north of Nundle and 44 kilometres south of Tamworth in New South Wales. Its main purposes are regulating the flow of the Peel River and to augment the water supply of Tamworth. The dam has a capacity of 62,000 megalitres and a catchment area of 42,000 hectares. Its main wall is 54 metres high. The structure was begun in 1976 and completed in 1979.

Limbri, New South Wales

Limbri is a small village on Swamp Oak Creek, about 30 km east northeast of Tamworth and about 8 km east southeast of Moonbi in northern New South Wales, Australia. The population of the Limbri region in 2006 was 259. Some alluvial gold was found at Limbri. It is now an agricultural based village, with sheep and cattle breeding the main pursuits. Limbri public school opened in 1900 to serve the surrounding grazing properties and celebrated its centenary, but it is now closed.
