Biloela is a rural town in Central Queensland, Australia. It is situated 120 kilometres inland from the port city of Gladstone at the junction of the Burnett and Dawson highways. At the 2011 census, Biloela had a population of 5,808. Biloela is the administrative centre for the Banana Shire, which has an area of 15,729 square kilometres .

The Shire of Banana is a local government area located in the Capricorn region of Queensland, Australia, inland from the regional city of Gladstone. The shire was named after the burial site of a huge dun coloured bullock named 'Banana'. The council sits in the town of Biloela, which is the largest town in the Shire. Major industries in the shire include coal mining, beef production, power generation, dryland cropping and irrigation cropping such as lucerne and cotton.

Thangool, Queensland

Thangool is a town in central Queensland, Australia. The town is in the Banana Shire local government area, 591 kilometres north west of the state capital, Brisbane and 12 kilometres south of the Shire administrative centre, Biloela. The name Thangool means Possum. At the 2011 census, Thangool had a population of 829. The Thangool area was originally home to the Gangulu Aboriginal people.

Callide Dam

The Callide Dam was constructed in 1965 to supply water for a nearby power station in Biloela in the state of Queensland, Australia. Callide Dam holds 136,300 megalitres at an average depth of 10.5 metres and a surface area of 1,240 hectares at full capacity. The dam supplies water to the Callide Power Station. SunWater, the water supply and services company, has undertaken a multi-station upgrade program to ensure highest levels of safety for dams of their responsibility.
