Endeavour River

The Endeavour River {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:15|27|30|S|145|14|00|E| |primary |name= }} on Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, Australia, was named in 1770 by Lt. James Cook, R.N. , after he was forced to beach his ship, HM Bark Endeavour, for repairs in the river mouth, after damaging it on Endeavour Reef. Joseph Banks named it the Endeavours River but the form Cook used, Endeavour River, has stuck.

Cooktown, Queensland

Cooktown is a small town located at the mouth of the Endeavour River, on Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland where James Cook beached his ship, the Endeavour, for repairs in 1770. At the time of the 2011 census, Cooktown had a population of 2,339. Both the town and Mount Cook (431 metres or 1,415 feet) which rises up behind the town were named after James Cook.

Annan River

The Annan River (aka Yuku Baja) is a river that begins in the Yorkey Range, north-north-west of Wujal Wujal in the Wet Tropics of Far North Queensland. Being in a wet-dry tropical climate the river receives the majority of its approximately 1800 mm rainfall per year between the months of December and April, a period known as the wet season.
