Bakers Creek air crash
The Bakers Creek air crash was an aviation disaster which occurred on 14 June 1943, when a United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress aircraft crashed at Bakers Creek, Queensland. The aircraft took off from Mackay and crashed approximately 8 kilometres south of the airfield. Forty of the 41 military service personnel on board were killed.

Bakers Creek, Queensland
Bakers Creek is a small town in Queensland, approximately 8 kilometres south of Mackay on the Bruce Highway. Its main industry is a large meat processing plant operated by Thomas Borthwick & Sons (Aust) Pty Ltd. The Bakers Creek watercourse runs through the township. At the 2006 census, Bakers Creek had a population of 770. In 1943, a USAAF aircraft crashed in the locality, killing 40 of the 41 people on board. The crash is Australia's worst aviation disaster by death toll.
