Tarong North Power Station

Tarong North Power Station is a 443 megawatt coal fired power station on the same site as Tarong Power Station in the South Burnett. The Queensland Government commissioned the construction of the power station in November 1999. The power station was initially owned by a 50/50 joint venture between Tarong Energy and TM Energy. Full ownership of the power station by Tarong Energy was obtained in November 2009.

Meandu Creek Dam

The Tarong and Tarong North Power Stations source water from the Brisbane River catchment via a pipeline from Wivenhoe Dam. Cooling tower blowdown water is either discharged directly to Tarong Energy's Meandu Creek Dam or supplied to the nearby Tarong Mine owned by Rio Tinto Coal Australia. Excess water from the mine is discharged back to Meandu Creek Dam. Releases from Meandu Creek Dam supply downstream irrigators on Meandu Creek.

Shire of Nanango

The Shire of Nanango was a local government area located in the South Burnett region of Queensland, Australia, about 100 kilometres northwest of the capital, Brisbane. The Shire covered an area of 1,738.4 square kilometres, and existed as a local government entity from 1879 until 2008, when it amalgamated with several other councils in the South Burnett area to become the South Burnett Regional Council.

Nanango is a town in the South Burnett region of Queensland, Australia. It is the fourth oldest town in Queensland. At the 2006 census, Nanango had a population of 3,083. It is situated 210 kilometres north-west of the state capital, Brisbane. Nanango sits at the junction of the D'Aguilar and Burnett Highways.

The County of Fitzroy is a county in Queensland, Australia. Like all counties in Queensland, it is a non-functional administrative unit, that is used mainly for the purpose of registering land titles. Fitzroy includes the eastern and central parts of the South Burnett Region and part of the former Shire of Kilkivan in the Gympie Region.
