Paradise Dam (Queensland)

Paradise Dam, also known as the Burnett River Dam, is a dam in Queensland, Australia located on the Burnett River. The dam is situated approximately 20 kilometres north-west of Biggenden and 80 km south-west of Bundaberg. The dam is named for the ghost town of Paradise, which is now under water following construction. The Paradise Dam was constructed on behalf of the Queensland Government in 2003-2005 and is owned by a government-owned corporation, Burnett Water Pty Ltd.

Shire of Biggenden

The Shire of Biggenden was a local government area located in the northern catchment of the Burnett River, Queensland, Australia, 100 kilometres south-southwest of the regional city of Bundaberg. The shire covered an area of 1,314.5 square kilometres, and existed as a local government area from 1905 until 2008, when it amalgamated with several other shires to become the North Burnett Region.

Biggenden

Biggenden is a town situated on the Isis Highway in southern Queensland, Australia, 339 km north-west of the state capital Brisbane, and 84 km west of Maryborough. At the 2006 census, Biggenden had a population of 644. Primary production is the most significant industry in the Shire with beef and dairy cattle being predominant. Other agricultural pursuits include grain crops, piggeries, peanuts, citrus and timber. The area is also rich in minerals.

Flying High Bird Sanctuary

Flying High Bird Sanctuary (formerly Flying High Bird Habitat) is the largest free-flight aviary in Australia and has over 250 birds. Visitors can walk around inside the aviary to see the birds. It is located on the corner of Bruce Highway and Old Creek Road, Apple Tree Creek, about 50 km south of Bundaberg in central Queensland, Australia. It was opened in 2002.
