Hallett is a small town in Mid North region of South Australia, situated on the Barrier Highway 32 kilometres north of Burra and 38 kilometres south-east of Jamestown, Hallett lies close to Goyder's Line, plotted in the nineteenth century by George Goyder, separating the land suitable for cropping from the land suitable for grazing. Booborowie is a settlement in South Australia. Booborowie is located 200km north of Adelaide. Being a farming community, the chief products produced are wool, wheat and canola. The town is named after the nearby Booborowie Waterhole, a small round shaped and usually dry waterhole about 1km north west of the town, the "owie" signifying "waterhole", as in Minlacowie, Terowie and Yarcowie. The spelling "Booboorowie" was common in the 19th century.

The town was named after a nearby peak, Mount Bryan, which was discovered in December 1839 by Governor George Gawler and who named it in honour of Henry Bryan, a young man who became lost and perished of thirst during Gawler's expedition.
