Ardrossan, South Australia
Ardrossan is a small town on the east coast of the Yorke Peninsula, about 150 km (90 mi) from Adelaide, South Australia. The town was largely initiated by wheat farmers and wheat transporters in the late 19th century who needed infrastructure to ship their produce across the Gulf St Vincent to Port Adelaide. The site was chosen near an old boat landing at Parara. It was named by Governor Fergusson after the Ardrossan seaport in Scotland and it was proclaimed on 5 November 1873.

At the 2006 census, Maitland had a population of 1,056. Maitland is within a short driving distance of coastal towns on either side, with Port Victoria to the west and Ardrossan to the east, each within 25 km.

Curramulka is within easy driving distance of the coastal resort towns of Port Victoria and Port Vincent and is 15 kilometres north-east of the regional ‘capital’ of Minlaton. At the 2006 census, Curramulka had a population of 148. Nearby is what are acknowledged as the most extensive chain of limestone caves in the southern hemisphere. The sheer size of the system is also the reason why so little is known about it.

It was first founded in the 1850s, and by 1882 had a school, hotel, blacksmiths, chapel and a large water tank.
