Ulverstone, Tasmania

Ulverstone is a major town on the north-west coast of Tasmania, Australia on the mouth of the Leven River, on Bass Strait. It is on the Bass Highway, 21 kilometres west of Devonport and 12 kilometres east of Penguin. At the 2011 census, Ulverstone had a population of 6,343. The town is a part of the municipality of the Central Coast Council which also includes Penguin, Turners Beach, Leith, Gawler and surrounds, and Forth.

Dial Range

The Dial Range is a small mountain range in northwest Tasmania, south of the town of Penguin near the coast. It extends about 14 km north to south and 4-5 km west to east. It is bordered on the east and south by the Leven River, with the Gunns Plains to the south. There are approximately 52 km of state owned land in the range. Of this, 43.54 km is state forest and forest reserve managed by Forestry Tasmania.

Central Coast Council

The Central Coast Council is a local government area of Tasmania, Australia on the north-west coast of the state, between the cities of Devonport and Burnie. The municipality contains two major centres Ulverstone (population 10,424) and Penguin (population 4,040), smaller towns include Forth, and Turners Beach. It has an estimated population of 21,747. The Central Coast includes the tourist destinations Leven Canyon and Black Bluff, as well as a number of rural areas such as Upper Castra.

Mount Montgomery State Reserve

The Mount Montgomery State Reserve is a state reserve in the Dial Range of northwest Tasmania. It comprises 299.5 hectares and is managed by the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service. It was established on 9 September 1970 and is described by the Parks and Wildlife Service as "scenic".
