Ouse, Tasmania

Ouse is a small town in the Central Highlands Council local government area in Tasmania, Australia on the Lyell Highway. At the 2006 census, Ouse had a population of 137. The town briefly made national headlines in August 2006 when the Ouse District Hospital, originally established as a Bush Nursing Centre and reconstituted in its present form in 1956, was downgraded to a health centre due to the lack of a GP to service the area.

Wayatinah Power Station is a hydroelectric power station on the Lower Derwent River in Tasmania. It has three turbines, with a combined generating capacity of 38.25 MW of electricity. Wayatinah was commissioned in 1957.

Waddamana, Tasmania

Waddamana is a former 'hydro-town' in Tasmania. It is at the foot of the southern side of the Central Plateau of Tasmania. It flourished with a population of over 100 in the early 1900s when the power plant situated there was being built. Waddamana Post Office opened on 18 August 1913 and closed in 1971. Its current permanent population stands at four or five.
