Lauriston, Victoria

Lauriston is a small community in Victoria, Australia. It is situated on the Coliban River, in a gully 8 kilometres west of Kyneton. The Lauriston Reservoir, (which serves Kyneton), is 2 kilometres south east of the town. At the 2006 Census, Lauriston had a population of 538. Lauriston Post Office opened on 1 July 1864 after gold was discovered in the area and closed in 1969.

Lauriston Reservoir

Lauriston Reservoir is a reservoir in Victoria, Australia, with a maximum capacity of 19,800 megalitres. The dam that created it, located 9 km west of Kyneton along Lauriston Reservoir Road, was constructed from 1938 to 1941 and has a spillway that measures 77 metres. The site is a popular picnic ground as one can fish there (although not from the dam structure itself), and barbecue facilities are available.

Malmsbury, Victoria

Malmsbury is a town in central Victoria, Australia on the Old Calder Highway (C794), 96 km north-west of the state capital, Melbourne and 11 km north-west of Kyneton. Situated close by the Coliban River, Malmsbury has a population of 612. Malmsbury is in the north western area of the Shire of Macedon Ranges local government area. The original inhabitants of the local area were the Dja Dja Wurrung people. European settlement began with squatters raising sheep and cattle.
