Ruffy, Victoria

Ruffy is a town in Victoria, Australia. The town is located in the Shire of Strathbogie, 175 kilometres north of the state capital, Melbourne. At the 2006 census, Ruffy and the surrounding area had a population of 280. People who live in the town of "Ruffy" are known as "Ruffians". The Post Office opened on 1 April 1881 as Terip Terip, was renamed Ruffy in 1895, and closed in 1974. Ruffy was the childhood home of Leslie Cecil Maygar, awarded the Victoria Cross in the Second Boer War.

Yarck railway station

Yarck railway station is a former railway station in Yarck, Victoria, Australia. After the station was closed in 1978, the main station building was sold and moved elsewhere. A passenger shelter in poor condition and a goods shed remain at the site of the station.

Merton, Victoria

Merton is a small town on the Maroondah Highway in north-east Victoria, west of Bonnie Doon. Merton Post Office opened on 1 July 1858. The railway to Mansfield arrived in the town from Tallarook in 1890, and closed on November 18, 1978. The last passenger service was on May 28, 1977. Merton has a picnic horse racing club, the Merton Amateur Turf Club (established in 1865), which holds its one race meeting a year with the Merton Cup on New Years Day.

Cathkin, Victoria

Cathkin is a small town in Central Victoria, in Australia. It is a small stop along the Goulburn Valley Highway, and is approximately 100km North from Melbourne. The railway to Mansfield arrived in the town from Tallarook in 1890, being closed on 18 November 1978. The last passenger service was on 28 May 1977. Cathkin was the junction of a short branch railway to Koriella, which opened in September 1890 and was later extended to Alexandra in 1909.
