Guildford, Victoria

Guildford is a small settlement situated on the Loddon River, 130 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Midland Highway between Daylesford and Castlemaine. The population recorded at the 2011 census was 245. Facilities in the town include a post office (in a building dating from 1901), hotel, community hall and a general store. It is thought that the town was named after Guildford in England.

Newstead railway station, Victoria

Newstead station was opened on Tuesday, 7 July 1874. Although no longer in use, Newstead retains a bricks station building, booking office, platform and goods shed. On Friday 17 December 2004, the line from Moolort to Maldon junction was closed, due to the line being reserved for the Victorian Goldfields Railway to operate between Maldon and Castlemaine.

Vaughan, Victoria

Vaughan, is a small village in the Shire of Mount Alexander in the state of Victoria, Australia south of Castlemaine and east of Guildford. Vaughan is situated on the Loddon River which has the Lawson spring, a drinkable mineral water spring. Vaughan Post Office first opened on 15 March 1859 and closed in 1922. It opened again in 1947 and closed in 1968.

Newstead, Victoria

Newstead is a town in Victoria, Australia, situated along the Loddon River. It is in the Shire of Mount Alexander local government area. At the 2006 census, Newstead had a population of 487. Newstead has many festivals and folk events and is in the centre of the golden triangle, close to many tourist attractions and events.
