The Towerrining Lake and Moodiarrup Swamps Important Bird Area is a 971 hectares site comprising a cluster of wetlands on the Blackwood River about 40 kilometres south of Darkan, and 45 kilometres north-west of Kojonup, in the south-west of the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.

Duranillin, Western Australia

Duranillin is a small town located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, 24 kilometres south of Darkan near the junction of the Arthur and Beaufort rivers.

Beaufort River

The Beaufort River is a river in the South West of Western Australia. The rivers has its headwaters west of Woodanilling near Melbourne Vale and flows in a westerly direction until it flows into the Arthur River near Duranillin. The Arthur River is a tributary of the Blackwood River. The only tributary of the river is the 7.5 kilometres Beaufort River East that joins the main river just east of where it crosses Albany Highway.

Balgarup River

Balgarup River is a river in Western Australia that has its headwaters south-east of Kojonup just below Byenup Hill. The river flows is a north-westerly direction crossing Albany Highway south of Kojonup then through the town of Muradup and continues in the north-west direction until it joins the Blackwood River of which it is a tributary. The only tributary to the Balgarup river is Mandalup Brook. The name originated from Aborigine language and is thought to mean place of the Blackboy trees.
