Salzkammergut

The Salzkammergut is a resort area located in Austria. It stretches from the City of Salzburg eastwards along the Austrian Alpine Foreland and the Northern Limestone Alps to the peaks of the Dachstein Mountains, spanning the federal states of Upper Austria, Salzburg, and Styria. The main river of the region is the Traun, a right tributary of the Danube.

Dachstein Chapel

The Dachstein Chapel in the Diocese of Linz is located immediately next to the Simony Hut in the Dachstein Mountains. It lies at a height of 2,206 m and is the highest place of worship in the Northern Limestone Alps. In 1925 a memorial to the Bishop of Linz, Rudolph Hittmair, was unveiled.

Nussensee

Nussensee is a lake in Upper Austria. It is located at Bad Ischl in the Salzkammergut. It has an area of approximately 10 hectares and a maximum depth of 14.7 m . The Nussensee is about 600 m long and up to 250 m wide. It is fed almost entirely by underground springs and is subject to fluctuations in level of several metres. This helps support rare plants such as the common water chestnut grow near the lake.
