Gakpè

Gakpè is a town and arrondissement in the Atlantique Department of southern Benin. It is an administrative division under the jurisdiction of the commune of Ouidah. According to the population census conducted by the Institut National de la Statistique Benin on February 15, 2002, the arrondissement had a total population of 4776.

Savi

Savi was the capital of the Kingdom of Whydah prior to its capture by the forces of Dahomey in 1727. Prior to the conquest of the city it had a circumference of about four miles. There were British East India Company, Dutch West India Company, French East India Company and a Portuguese trading compound in the city, adjacent to the Royal Palace. Overall the city was very populous and filled with throngs of people.
