Bom Jesus da Lapa is a municipality in Bahia, Brazil located 796km from the state capital. The population as of 2007 was recorded at 62,199 according to the IBGE. Serra do Ramalho
The caves of the Serro da Ramalho karst area in the southwestern Bahia State, Brazil, have been explored since the early 2000s. The several large cave systems present a great biospeleological potential. Newly discovered species include the first troglobitic Amblypygi recorded for Brazil, Charinus troglobius, an eyeless harvestman (Giupponia chagasi), an as yet undescribed genus of spiders, and a species of catfish (Rhamdia enfurnada).
