Lower Nicola, British Columbia

Lower Nicola is a rural community and First Nations Indian Reserve in the Nicola Country region of the Southern Interior of British Columbia. The First Nations community there is also known as Shackan, the local band government being the Shackan First Nation of the Nicola Tribal Association. Lower Nicola is located on BC Highway 8.

Guichon Creek (Nicola River)

Guichon Creek is a large creek in the Nicola Country of southern interior British Columbia. It flows south from near Mount Fehr (south of Walhachin) past Logan Lake through Mamit Lake, entering the Nicola River at Lower Nicola west of Merritt. The creek provides irrigation water for nearby cattle ranches, and a tributary, Witches Brook, drains part of the area of the Highland Valley Copper Mine. Highway 97C runs parallel to the creek between Logan Lake and its junction with Highway 8.

Coldwater River (British Columbia)

The Coldwater River is located in south central British Columbia, Canada. It is the largest tributary of the Nicola River, joining it at the city of Merritt. Its traditional native name is Ntstlatko ("cold water").

Merritt, British Columbia

Merritt is a city in the Nicola Valley of the south-central Interior of British Columbia, Canada. Situated at the confluence of the Nicola and Coldwater rivers, it is the first major community encountered after travelling along Phase One of the Coquihalla Highway and acts as the gateway to all other major highways to the B.C. Interior. The city developed in 1893 when part of the ranches owned by William Voght, Jesus Garcia, and John Charters was surveyed for a town site.

CKMQ-FM

CKMQ-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 101.1 FM in Merritt, British Columbia. The station broadcasts a mainstream adult contemporary music format branded as Q101. The station was originally launched in 1970 on AM 1230 as CJNL. Merritt Broadcasting, that station's owner, received CRTC approval to convert to the FM band in 2009, and the station was relaunched on FM on August 31 that year.
