Tahsis, British Columbia

Tahsis is a village on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, about 300 km (by air) northwest of the provincial capital Victoria at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:49|55|33|N|126|37|16|W| | |name= }}. It has 300 residents and used to be dependent on forestry, although now the economy is moving towards outdoor recreation and tourism. The village is situated at the head of the steep-sided Tahsis Inlet.

Weymer Creek Provincial Park

Weymer Creek Provincial Park, formerly Weymer Creek Karst Provincial Park, is a provincial park located on the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, just southeast of the community of Tahsis in the region of Nootka Sound. Its most important feature is its karst topography and some of the deepest caves in Canada. Caving is currently not permitted in the park and visitors to the area are requested to practice "no trace" camping.

Mount Bate

Mount Bate is a mountain on Vancouver Island in Strathcona Regional District, British Columbia, Canada, 14 km east of the community of Tahsis and 21 km southwest of Rugged Mountain. Mount Bate is thought to have been named by George Henry Richards for Captain William Thornton Bate, RN, a surveyor who was killed in the capture of Canton during the Second Opium War in 1857. The mountain is at the head of Canton Gorge, another geographical feature named by Richards.
