Transcona is a provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The riding was created by redistribution in 1968, and has formally existed since the 1969 provincial election. Transcona is located in the easternmost tip of the City of Winnipeg. It is bordered to the west by Radisson, and in all other directions by the rural riding of Springfield. The population in 1996 was 19648. The average family income in 1999 was $50,089, with an unemployment rate of 6.70%.

Transcona Collegiate Institute (TCI) is a secondary education institution located in the Transcona suburb of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Transcona Collegiate teaches grades nine through twelve. Transcona Collegiate was opened in 1961, and in the following year an additional six classrooms were added. During the 1999-2000 school year a 16,000 sq ft addition was added to the school, extending out to the west and north. Transcona Collegiate has approximately 650 students and 60 staff members.

Arthur Day Middle School
Arthur Day Middle School is a school that is part of the River East Transcona School Division in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was built in 1969 and named after Arthur Henry Day, who was chair of the Transcona-Springfield school board from 1952 until his death 1962. On April 6, 1970, the cornerstone of the new school was set down by his wife, Edith Day and the official opening of the school took place.
