Caledonia is a small riverside community and former town located on the Grand River in Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada. Haldimand County is in the western part of the Niagara Peninsula, and had a population of 43,280 in 2001. The current mayor of Haldimand County is Ken Hewitt; Caledonia is within Ward 3 of Haldimand County. The Councillor elected for Ward 3 is Craig Grice. John Russell Harper
John Russell Harper, OC, FRSC (April 13, 1914 – November 17, 1983) was an eminent Canadian art historian who is considered to have pioneered the field of art history in Canada. Harper was born at Caledonia, Ontario {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:43|4|26|N|79|57|7|W| | |name= }}. he worked for some time as a primary school teacher before studying at the Ontario School of Art from 1938 to 1940.
