Combermere, Ontario

Combermere is a village located along the Madawaska River in south-eastern Ontario, Canada. It is part of Township of Madawaska Valley. Combermere is best known as home to Madonna House, but the community hosts a farmer's market and also provides access to numerous lakes and rivers for cottagers and tourists who visit the area. Extensive damage resulted when a tornado moved through the area during the evening hours of August 2, 2006.

Our Lady of Combermere

Our Lady of Combermere is a religious title given within Roman Catholicism to the Blessed Virgin, Mary, the mother of Jesus. The same name also refers to a statue of Mary erected in 1960 in the village of Combermere in Ontario, Canada.

Canoe Lake (Madawaska River)

Canoe Lake is a lake in Combermere, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. It is 600 metres long and 300 metres wide, and the primary outflow is an unnamed creek to Negeek Lake on the Madawaska River. There is a second Canoe Lake in Renfrew County that is also part of the Madawaska system, Canoe Lake (Highland Creek), on the Highland Creek tributary further downstream.

Craigmont, Ontario

Craigmont is a ghost town in the Canadian province of Ontario. It straddles the municipal boundary of Carlow/Mayo in Hastings County and Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan in Renfrew County. It was a former mining town that produced corundum from deposits in Mount Robillard, directly north of the community. In 1876, the mountain was discovered as a source for Corundum. In 1900, mining operations began by the Canada Corundum Company.
