Hillier, Ontario

Hillier is a community located in Prince Edward County, Ontario. Established in 1823, it was named after Major George Hillier, military secretary to Sir Peregrine Maitland. It is located on the Loyalist Parkway or Highway 33 and is roughly 30 minutes from Belleville, Ontario. Hillier's population is roughly 100 people. The town hall, which is at the centre of the hamlet, was once a school and has been marked as a national historical site.

Wellington, Ontario

Wellington is a farming community located in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. Wellington's population is roughly 1700 people. Once called Smokeville after a local First Nations elder, the name was changed in the 1860s to Wellington. One of Prince Edward County's earliest residents, Daniel Reynolds, first came to the area in the 18th century and settled in Wellington where his house remains today along Main St.

Ameliasburgh Township, Ontario

Ameliasburgh is an historic township in southern Ontario, Canada, one of the three original townships that formed Prince Edward County. The other two townships were Marysburgh and Sophiasburgh. Originally known as Seventh Town, it was renamed in 1787 after Princess Amelia, the youngest child of George III. The township was amalgamated into the Corporation of the County of Prince Edward, a single tier municipality, on January 1, 1998.

Ameliasburgh, Ontario

Ameliasburg, also known as Ameliasburgh, is a small community in Prince Edward County, Ontario. The poet Al Purdy lived in a cottage on Roblin Lake, adjacent to Ameliasburg, for many years. Several of Purdy's poems, most famously including "Wilderness Gothic", mention features in and around Ameliasburg. The church whose spire "Wilderness Gothic" has being "sheathed in new metal" is now part of the Ameliasburg Museum.
