Markdale, Ontario

Markdale (population 1,400) is a community in the Municipality of Grey Highlands, in Grey County, Ontario, Canada. Markdale was first settled in 1846 and originally called East Glenelg, after a nearby township. In 1864, it was renamed Cornabus after the Islay, Scotland hometown of then-postmaster Donald MacDuffie (1814–1892). In 1873, Mark Armstrong sold land to the Toronto, Grey and Bruce Railway on the condition that the station bear his name. Markdale was incorporated as a village in 1888.

Eugenia, Ontario

Eugenia is a small community in Grey County, Ontario, just north of Flesherton. An unincorporated hamlet of Artemesia Township for most of its history, Eugenia was amalgamated into the Municipality of Grey Highlands in 2001. Due to nearby Lake Eugenia, Eugenia Falls, the Bruce Trail and the ski resorts of the Beaver Valley, it has become a popular tourist and cottage destination.

Grey Highlands Secondary School

Grey Highlands Secondary School is a Grade 9-12 high school located in Flesherton, Ontario, Canada, in rural Grey County. It was built in 1967 as part of a province-wide upgrade of educational facilities. Unlike typical rural high schools of the time that were designed only to graduate matriculation students, it was envisioned as a multi-disciplinary facility for students of all educational paths.
