Alliston
Alliston is a settlement in Simcoe County in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is part of the Town of New Tecumseth since the 1991 amalgamation of Alliston and nearby villages of Beeton, Tottenham, and the Township of Tecumseth. The primary downtown area is located along Highway 89, known as Victoria Street. The town grew as a commercial centre for the area farmers and was best known as a potato-growing area.

Banting Memorial High School is the only secondary school located in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Simcoe County District School Board and as of 2005 has a student population of approximately 1,800. The school is named in honour of Sir Frederick Grant Banting, a key member of the Canadian scientific team that discovered how to extract and use insulin for treating diabetes mellitus. Alliston was the home town of Sir Frederick Banting, and is also the foundation of his homestead.
