Downtown St. Catharines
The downtown core of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada is defined by the city as the area between Highway 406 on the west and south, Geneva Street on the east until it reaches St. Paul Street then Niagara Street north until it meets Welland Avenue. The area was originally known as a storehouse for goods at the crossing of an Iroquois trail over Twelve Mile Creek. Curving Indian trails formed the foundation of the downtown streets as they appear today.

It houses two arena pads - the Jack Gatecliff Arena which is home to the Niagara IceDogs, and the smaller Rex Stimers Arena. The SCENE Music Festival is a one-day music festival held in downtown St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. The event has been held annually in late June/early July since 1996. The acronym "SCENE" stands for St. Catharines Event for New Music Entertainment. The first festival in 1996 drew about 800 people. The event in 2003, seven years later, was attended by around 2,500 and featured 85 bands, headlined by The Trews.
