Saint-Jean County, Quebec

Saint-Jean County is an historical county in Quebec and is on the west bank of the Richelieu River about 40 km southeast of Montreal. The county was organized in 1854 from the counties of Huntingdon and Chambly. Its extent included the parishes of L'Acadie, Lacolle, St. Luc, St. Valentin, and St. Jean as well as the city and county seat of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

Lacolle railway station

Lacolle railway station is a railway station located in Lacolle, Quebec. Its address is 21 rue Ste-Marie adjacent to the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) Lacolle Subdivision. A large piece of land surrounds it and a long yard is located on the other side of the tracks. Situated close to the Canada – United States border, the Canadian Pacific Railway station at Lacolle played a role as both a railway station and a customs and immigration post for Canadian and American border officers.

Lacolle Mills Blockhouse

Lacolle Mill Blockhouse, also known as, Blockhaus de la rivière-Lacolle, is a blockhouse located in Saint-Paul-de-l'Île-aux-Noix, Quebec. It was the location for the Battle of Lacolle Mills (1814). Built around 1781, the blockhouse was part of the British colonies defence network. While protecting the saw mill and the lighthouse built on the river, the Blockhouse was used as an outpost by the British Army on assignment in the Haut-Richelieu region and on Lake Champlain.

L'Acadie, Quebec

L'Acadie is a town in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada, on the west side of the Richelieu River, across from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. It was about 30 miles (50 km) from Montreal, and about the same distance from the United States border at the head of Lake Champlain. In 2001 L'Acadie merged with neighbouring Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, along with several other neighbouring towns and villages.
