Quebec Route 236

Route 236 is a two-lane east/west highway on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada. Its eastern terminus is in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka at the junction of Route 132 and the western terminus is at the junction of Route 132 again, in Beauharnois. Up until the 1980s, Route 236 also used to extend further west, with an additional stretch between Sainte-Barbe and the hamlet of Cazaville, part of Saint-Anicet.

Beauharnois Canal

The Beauharnois Canal is a Canadian canal located in southwestern Quebec. The canal is part of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Located in Beauharnois-Salaberry Regional County Municipality within the cities of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Beauharnois, Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague, and Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka, the canal connects Lake Saint-Francis to the west (upstream) with Lake Saint-Louis to the northeast (downstream), bypassing a series of rapids on the St. Lawrence River.

Saint Lawrence Seaway

The Saint Lawrence Seaway (St. Lawrence Seaway), (French: la Voie Maritime du Saint-Laurent), is the common name for a system of locks, canals and channels that permits ocean-going vessels to travel from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes, as far inland as the western end of Lake Superior. The Seaway is named for the Saint Lawrence River, which flows from Lake Ontario to the Atlantic Ocean. Legally, the Seaway extends from Montreal, Quebec, to Lake Erie, and includes the Welland Canal.

Chateauguay Valley Regional High School

Chateauguay Valley Regional is an English language high school in Ormstown, Quebec, Canada serving the Chateauguay Valley and Valleyfield area. It is administered by the New Frontiers School Board. Enrolment is currently approximately 700 (est. 2012), but has ranged from 670 to 1500 during the school's history, in accordance with demographic trends. CVR (as it is often referred) was opened in 1967.

Variable frequency transformer

A variable frequency transformer is used to transmit electricity between two alternating current domains. The VFT is a relatively recent development (first deployed in 2004). Most asynchronous grid inter-ties use high-voltage direct current converters, while synchronous grid inter-ties are connected by lines & "ordinary" transformers, but without the ability to control power flow between the systems.
