Speers is a village in Douglas Rural Municipality No. 436, Saskatchewan, Canada. The population was 74 at the 2006 Census. The village is located approximately 50 minutes southeast of North Battleford, Saskatchewan on Highway 40. The community is named for Charles Wesley Speers, the colonization agent for Western Canada, who came from Eastern Canada to settle at Griswold, Manitoba, in 1884.

Twisted Trees

The Twisted Trees, Crooked Bush, or Crooked Trees of Alticane are an unexplained grove of deformed aspen trees found in Saskatchewan, Canada. They are found approximately twenty kilometers north-north-west of the town of Hafford, Saskatchewan and just over five kilometers south-west of Alticane. The trees, prominent in Saskatchewan folklore, are dramatically different from the un-twisted aspens just across the road. Explanations have been offered which include various paranormal factors.

Maymont, Saskatchewan

Maymont is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The plaque at the entrance to the town says that the Village of Maymont was named for May Montgomery, niece of Mr. McKenzie (of McKenzie and Mann, railway construction contractors, who built the CNR line through the area in 1905). Miss Montgomery had asked her uncle to name the village Montgomery, but he said he couldn't because a town in Manitoba already had that name.
