Gbadolite

Gbadolite or Gbado-Lite is the capital of the Nord-Ubangi District in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The town is located 12 kilometres south of the Ubangi River at the border to the Central African Republic and 1,150 kilometres northeast of the national capital Kinshasa. Gbadolite was the ancestral home and the residence of Mobutu Sese Seko, who was President of Zaire (the Democratic Republic of the Congo) from 1965 to 1997.

Nord-Ubangi District

Nord-Ubangi District is a district located in the Équateur province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is located in the northwestern part of the country on the Ubangi River. Nord-Ubangi was to be combined with the city of Gbadolite to form one of 25 proposed provinces specified in the country's Constitution of February 2006, taking effect no later than February 2009. As of October 2010, this had not taken place.
