Liangyuan District
Liangyuan District is one of the two districts of the city of Shangqiu. The name Liangyuan, or "the garden of Liang", follows from the name Emperor Xiao of Liang, who built the garden around 154 BC centered in the area of nowadays Shangqiu. At present, Liangyuan district hosts the government of Shangqiu city.

Battle of Suiyang
The Battle of Suiyang (睢陽之戰) was a battle in Suiyang during the An Shi Rebellion, between the rebel An Lushan's Yan army and the loyalist forces of the Chinese Tang army. Although the battle was ultimately won by Yan, it suffered a major loss of manpower and time. The battle was noted for Tang army's determination to fight to the last man, and also due to the cannibalism that occurred during the siege.

It has been founded for over 1400 years and has a lot of historic sites, such as Yiyin grave and Weizheng grave. Yucheng is also the hometown of Hua Mulan who is a well-known female hero of China in Southern & Northern Dynasties.
