The San Luis Port of Entry has been a busy US port of entry since the early 1900s. In 2010, all commercial truck traffic was diverted to the new San Luis II Port of Entry 5 miles to the east. In 2012, two additional inspection lanes were added to the port facility. .

San Luis II Port of Entry
The San Luis II Port of Entry is a commercial port of entry, in that it only accepts commercial trucks entering the United States for inspection. Passenger cars and pedestians are directed to cross at the San Luis, AZ downtown crossing. The Port of Entry was built 5 miles east of the downtown crossing in 2010 in an effort to divert the commercial truck traffic and ease congestion. Roads connecting to Interstate 8 were improved to support the additional traffic.
