Hirnantian

The Hirnantian is the seventh and final internationally-recognized stage of the Ordovician Period of the Paleozoic Era. It was of short duration, lasting about 1.9 million years, from 445.2 ± 1.4 to 443.4 ± 1.5 Ma (million years ago). The early part of the Hirnantian was characterized by cold temperatures, major glaciation, and a severe drop in sea level.

Dapingian

The Dapingian is the third stage of the Ordovician and the first stage of the Middle Ordovician. It is preceded by the Floian and and succeeded by the Darriwilian. The base of the Floian is defined as the first appearance of the conodont species Baltoniodus triangularis which happened about 470.0 ± 1.4 million years ago. The Dapingian lasted for about 2.7 million years until about 467.3 ± 1.1 million years ago.

Huanghuachang

Huanghuachang is a village in Huanghua, Yiling, Yichang, Hubei, China. An outcrop of sedimentary rock from the Ordovician has made Huanghuachang famous in the earth science community. The "Huanghuachang section" is an outcrop of the Dawan Formation in which the official base of the Dapingian stage is defined.

HVDC Three Gorges – Changzhou

The HVDC Three Gorges – Changzhou is an 940-kilometre long bipolar HVDC transmission line in China for the transmission of electric power from the Three Gorges power plant to the area of Changzhou. The transmission line went into service in 2004. It runs from the static inverter station, Longquan, 31 miles away from the Three Gorges power plant to the static inverter plant, Zhengping, near Changzhou.
