Jinan West Railway Station

The Jinan West Railway Station is a high-speed railway station in Jinan, Shandong, People's Republic of China. It is served by the Jinghu High-Speed Railway and Shiji Passenger Railway which mainly serve the Beijing to Shanghai passengers, and was opened for high-speed rail service on June 30, 2011. The West Railway station is located about 20 kilometers to the west of the city center of Jinan. Trains from Beijing to Qingdao call at the central Jinan Railway Station instead.

Battle of Jinan

The Battle of Jinan was a critical engagement fought between the Kuomintang (KMT or Chinese Nationalist Party) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) from September 16 to September 24 1948 during the Chinese Civil War. The communist Eastern China Field Army besieged and finally captured the city of Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province and a major urban center as well as a transportation hub in northeastern China with a population of about 600,000 at the time of the battle.
