Huangpu River
The Huangpu is a 113 kilometres -long river in China flowing through Shanghai. It is the last significant tributary of the Yangtze before it empties into the East China Sea. The Bund and Lujiazui are located along the river. Huangpu River is the largest river in Shanghai, with Suzhou Creek being its major tributary. It is an average of 400 meters wide and 9 meters deep. It divides the city into two regions: Pudong to its east and Puxi to the west.

Wusong
Wusong, formerly Woosung, is a port town located fourteen miles downriver from Shanghai. The Battle of Woosung occurred on 16 June 1842 between British and Chinese forces during the First Opium War. It was the site of China's first telegraph wires and first railroad, both running to Shanghai along what is today the route of the Shanghai Metro's elevated Line 3. Tongji University was founded here in 1909.
