Hejing County
Hejing County is located in the central-southern part of the Tian Shan mountains of Xinjiang, in the North-west of Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture. Hejing County borders Ürümqi City to the north, from which it is 190km as the crow flies, and Korla City (the prefectural capital) to the south, which is 80km away. The population of Hejing County is about 190,000 as of 2010, and the county is home to 29 different ethnic groups including Mongolian, Han, Uyghur and Hui.

Yanqi Hui Autonomous County
Yanqi Hui Autonomous County is an autonomous county in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and is under the administration of the Bayin'gholin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture. It contains an area of 2,429 km. According to the 2002 census, it has a population of 120,000. The Qigexing Buddhist Temple Ruins are located in Yanqi County, about 25–30 km southwest of the town of Yanqi.

Kaidu River
The Kaidu River, also known under its ancient name Liusha River or Chaidu-gol is a river in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China and an important source of water for the region. The sources of the Kaidu River are located on the central southern slopes of the Tian Shan from where it flows through the Yulduz Basin and the Yanqi Basin into Lake Bosten for which it is the most important tributary.

Karasahr
Yanqi, or Karasahr (also Karashahr, meaning 'black city' in Uyghur languages), is an ancient town on the Silk Road and capital of Yanqi Hui Autonomous County in the Bayin'gholin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang, in northwestern China. According to the 2000 Chinese census it had a population of 29,000, growing to 31,773 persons in 2006; 16,032 persons of which are Han, 7781 people Hui, 7154 people Uygur, 628 Mongol, and 178 other ethnicities and an agricultural population of 1078 people.
